The Fourth Annual Helen Hayes Hospital Foundation-Rockland Toyota Charity Golf Outing, which took place on August 11, 2014, was an overwhelming success. The sold-out event raised over $170,000 for the Foundation, which supports the specialty physical rehabilitation hospital.
New York Giants Jeff Feagles and Stephen Baker, “The Touchdown Maker,” and surprise guest Bruce Harper of the New York Jets joined the 112 golfers at the Manhattan Woods Golf Club in West Nyack, New York. Following breakfast and prior to the 11:00 am tee-off, the players held a signed football toss. Golfers enjoyed a grilled lunch on the course and putting practices while also vying for a number of prizes, including a hole-in-one.
As the scores were tallied, everyone gathered for the cocktail reception and silent and live auction, hosted by Auctioneer Patricia Stark, a professional speaking coach and radio host. John Register, Ambassador for the National Paralympic Program and himself a silver medalist in track and swimming, held the audience captive with an inspirational talk.
Following dinner, the awards were presented, culminating with the James G. MacArthur Trophy, named in honor of the famed actor James MacArthur, son of the Hospital’s namesake, Helen Hayes MacArthur. On hand to present the award was his wife, HB MacArthur, an LPGA pro and avid supporter of the rehabilitation hospital.
